Jos Town Ambassadors Foundation (JTA), in partnership with Sentinel Oasis for Love and Care Initiative (SOLCI), successfully carried out this week’s sanitation exercise at Vanderpuye as part of our shared commitment to promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more peaceful community. The exercise brought together community sentinels, community leaders, and stakeholders.
The event commenced at about 8am with opening remarks by the Executive Director of SOLCI, Haroun Audu, who welcomed participants and appreciated the continued collaboration between the organizations and communities in Jos North. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of community partnership in driving sustainable development and maintaining a healthy environment. He noted that sanitation is not only a matter of hygiene but also a reflection of the values of care, responsibility, and collective progress within the community. He rounded up by saying that he hopes the community carries on with the exercise to a point were it becomes a part and parcel of their daily living.
The Ward Head of Vaderpuye Mr Dung Jok also delivered his welcoming remarks, expressing gratitude to JTA and SOLCI for bringing the sanitation initiative to the community. He commended SOLCI, JTA, and volunteers for their dedication and encouraged residents to embrace cleanliness, as it is next to godliness. He further highlighted the importance of community participation in efforts that improve public health and strengthen unity among residents.
Speaking on behalf of Jos Town Ambassadors Foundation, Odessa Chuwang delivered a message centered on the connection between environmental cleanliness and peace building. She stressed that a clean environment promotes dignity, safety, and mutual respect among community members. She encouraged residents to take active roles in keeping their surroundings clean and to see sanitation as a vital step toward building peaceful and thriving communities.
The sanitation exercise itself was carried out successfully, with participants actively involved in cleaning designated areas within the Vanderpuye community.
